The two-time Olympian stopped skating for five months following Sochi, but when she felt something missing in her life, she made the bold decision to get back on the ice. “I get a sense of redemption just because my first Olympics didn’t go as well as I had hoped, and when I qualified again it was just nice knowing that I had a second chance to have a better memory of the Olympics, so I’m so excited to go back.” “It was just a really devastating experience when I looked back on (Sochi) because you work your whole life for that moment and it didn’t go as you planned,” Williams said prior to a training session at Floyd Hall Arena. So when she qualified for the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang through her dynamic performance at the 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany, Williams set her sights on redemption.
